About

Sadaf Khani is an Iranian multidisciplinary musician and artist working across piano improvisation, ambient composition, animation, and spatial design. Her piano performances blend emotional depth with subtle echoes of traditional Iranian melodies, moving fluidly between contemporary classical language and atmospheric soundscapes. Her work unfolds as intimate sonic journeys that invite audiences into moments of reflection, presence, and connection.

Beyond music, Sadaf's visual and conceptual projects explore themes of empathy, memory, and human connection. She creates poetic dialogues between sound, image, and space, often using animation, immersive design, and architectural thinking to build environments shaped by emotional resonance. Her interdisciplinary practice is rooted in a desire to understand how artistic experiences can foster awareness, introspection, and shared humanity.

Her debut album Thousands of Times reflects this approach, weaving contemplative textures and personal narratives into a meditative listening experience. Recent projects include immersive VR environments, interactive sound installations, community-based workshops, and performances in theaters, festivals, and cultural spaces across the Netherlands.

Sadaf has performed and exhibited at venues such as Stadsschouwburg Groningen, Suikerbrij Festival, Blikopener Festival, and Kunstlievend Genootschap Pictura. Her animation and music projects have been selected for festivals including NOVA Young Film Festival, Framed Festival, and Gouds Festival. She was nominated for the Groningen Visual Arts Stipend in 2024 and for the Noorderlicht Award in 2025.

She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Art in Tehran and a Master of Fine Art and Design from the Frank Mohr Institute, where her thesis Composition of Empathy explored the relationship between music, spatial experience, architecture, and virtual reality.

Sadaf is currently based in the Netherlands, where she continues to develop projects that bring together music, art, and collective experience.
